How does it work?

How does Restylane work?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar that keeps our skin hydrated and creates volume through its ability to bind water molecules. The Restylane range of products is designed to act like your body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid.

However, as we age, our bodies make less hyaluronic acid. Our skin begins to sag and look thinner, losing its radiance and youthful appearance. Injecting hyaluronic acid can help reduce the visible signs of aging.
The Restylane range utilizes two technologies to stabilize hyaluronic acid into a gel form. When injected, it adds volume to smooth wrinkles and enhance facial balance where needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Restylane is a full product line of soft and firm injectable gels made of hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body that attracts and binds water molecules to add volume. Restylane fillers are formulated with two technologies – NASHATM and Optimal Balance TechnologyTM – creating a broad range of gel textures. This allows your healthcare professional to tailor treatment to your unique facial tissue, for a natural look customized to you. Results are immediate, adding volume to smooth out wrinkles and enhance facial balance for a more youthful, revitalized look.

Restylane is the world's most studied line of dermal fillers with more than 25 years of use. With more than 50 million treatments worldwide, Restylane products have an established legacy and a well-defined safety profile. Talk to your healthcare professional to find the right Restylane treatment plan to achieve the look you desire.

Restylane restores volume to smooth wrinkles and soften facial lines. Restylane can also be used to enhance facial features such as your lips, cheeks, and jawline by adding volume for fullness and definition.

Your healthcare professional will inject Restylane or Restylane Skinboosters. After injection, he/she may gently massage the treated area.

Restylane Skinboosters improves skin smoothness, elasticity and appearance to refresh your look. It can be used in your face (lower cheek/jawline), upper neck and back of the hands.

A treatment with Restylane doesn’t usually take long. A touch-up treatment is sometimes performed after the initial treatment to optimize your results.

Some people may experience the treatment as a mild discomfort. Many Restylane products contain an integrated local anaesthetic, lidocaine, to provide you with a more comfortable treatment experience. You and your healthcare professional may decide whether additional pain relief is needed.

There are some people in whom Restylane and Restylane Skinboosters should not be used. At your initial consultation, it’s important to tell your healthcare professional about all of your current and prior medical conditions and allergies and, how serious they are, all medications you are taking and whether you have had or are planning to have another aesthetic procedure (e.g., laser, chemical peel).

Results vary from patient to patient. With a repeated treatment plan, results may be long-lasting.

Maintenance or “touch-up” treatments are one or more additional treatments after your initial session to help maintain your results. Talk to your healthcare professional to see if maintenance treatment is right for you, and when and how much Restylane may be needed.
